- Turkey's parliament endorses a three-month state of emergency in the wake of last week's failed coup against the government. Legislators voted 356 to 115 to approve the motion. The state of emergency gives Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan extra powers to purge the state institutions of coup supporters.
- UNICEF has condemned the killing of children during the US-led air campaign in northern Syria. The United Nations' children agency says dozens of kids have died in bombings in and around the town of Manbij in the past few days. The agency added that nothing can justify attacks on children.
- France says Britain should not have access to the European Union’s single market unless it respects the free movement of E-U citizens. Francois Hollande made the remark following talks with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny in Dublin. The two leaders urged Britain to quickly begin the process of leaving the E-U.
- Clashes once again break out between the army and pro-Russia forces in eastern Ukraine. Officials in Kiev say pro-Russia militias carried out 70 attacks on the position of the army in the Donbas region. Fierce fighting reportedly rages on around the village of Luhanske.
- The Islamic Republic’s parliament speaker says Tehran will retaliate against any anti-Iran measures adopted by Western governments. Ali Larijani also slammed the U-S Congress for introducing resolutions against Iran. He said the psychological pressure caused by these measures dissuade some major international companies from making investment in Iran.
- India strongly condemns Pakistan over QUOTE supporting terrorism after Islamabad observed a day of solidarity with people in Indian-administered Kashmir following deadly violence in the disputed region. This comes after Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a QUOTE black day to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
- Heavy downpours in northern China have left more than a dozen dead, and forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights and trains. Constant rain has hit the Chinese capital, Beijing since Monday forcing the evacuation of about 68-thousand people. Officials say dozens remain unaccounted for as rescue operations are underway.
- Brazilian police have arrested members of a group allegedly planning terrorist attacks during the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio. The group, made up of Brazilians, had allegedly pledged allegiance to Daesh. Brazil's Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes says security forces obtained information that shows the detainees had even discussed buying weapons.
