A court in Spain has given Barcelona striker Lionel Messi a 21-month jail term for tax fraud.

The court found both the Argentinean superstar and his father guilty of three counts of defrauding Spain's tax office of €4.1 million.

The Barcelona court also fined Messi €2 million and his father €1.5 million for using tax havens in Belize and Uruguay.

Under Spanish law prison terms under two years are suspended, meaning that neither of the two will go to prison.
