Britain not to give up independence to EU: Pundit

Press TV has conducted an interview with investigative journalist Tony Gosling from Bristol and Gary Cartwright, an EU affairs consultant in Brussels, to discuss the impact of Britain's exit from the EU.

Gosling said the British people are tired of the European Union’s economic and political performance and expected to vote for an exit from the bloc of 28 member states.

"The European Union is not only privatizing the infrastructure of countries in Europe but the bloc is also pursuing the privatization of police, civil service and army in some states," he said.

He said 500 million people in the European countries would not accept to give in their independence to the European Union.

The bloc is "a completely failed union because of its financial and political records," Gosling said.

"The Europeans have not been given any chance to be aware of the expenditures of the EU at all and the foreign policy of the union has brought about war and destruction to the Middle East region."

Pointing to other reasons that push the British people to call for an exit, Gosling said the Britons are witnessing the decline of their wages and the inflation of house prices.

Cartwright, for his part, described the move to hold a referendum in Britain on leaving the EU as “absolutely correct.”

"Given the fact that there are lots of losses of sovereignty in Europeans’ economy and politics, the British referendum is essential," he said.
