Ankara has long been a staunch critic of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and has been calling for his ouster. But Turkey's incoming Prime Minister Binali Yildrim says he wants no lasting tensions with the country’s neighbors. Observers say Turkey may try to mend ties with the Syrian government in a bid to prevent an autonomous Kurdish region in northern Syria.
