Press TV has interviewed David Ayrton, with the UK Trade Union Movement from London, and Willie Black, with Radical Independence Campaign (RIC) from Edinburg, to discuss the murder of British lawmaker Jo Cox.
Black believes that there is a systematic effort in Britain to downgrade the murder o Jo Cox to a mere incident caused by a “mentally ill” person, while, according to him, the killer is a “terrorist” with a long history of right-wing affiliation.
“Let’s be absolutely clear. He was a far-right terrorist who carried out a terrorist act …He could be someone who is mentally ill but that is not the motivation. He wants to bring a race war in Britain. These are Nazis. These are Fascists,” he underlined.
Britons should label these persons as terrorists and isolate them on the political scene, said Black, adding that the vast majority of people in Britain, whether supporters of leaving or staying in the European Union, are against any kind of racism.
Meanwhile, Ayrton described the murder of Jo Cox as a terrorist act which is rooted in “extremist” and “xenophobic” views of high-ranking politicians within the Leave campaign.
He criticized the anti-immigrant rhetoric of certain politicians supporting the Leave campaign, saying this creates “an atmosphere which allows isolated individuals to see their own extreme xenophobic racist views as legitimate and therefore take such actions as was taken regrettably against Jo Cox the PM.”
