Press TV has interviewed Mark Glenn, an author and journalist, about Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah dismissing an Israeli proposal for direct negotiations instead of a French multilateral "peace" initiative, calling it an attempt to "buy time."
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: Here we have the Prime Minister of the PA, Hamdallah, who has said that they do not want to have direct talks with the Israelis because Israel is going to buy more time but it sounds to me like this process that they want, having the meetings without the presence of Israel is also going to be a waste of time. What do you think about it?
Glenn: Yes it is a waste of time before the talks even began. The peace talks have not been stalled since 2014. The peace talks have been stalled ever since 1948 when these bloodthirsty invaders moved into the region and stole the land out from the peaceful Palestinians who had been there for thousands of years.
So this entire process of negotiating with this invader that has been responsible for murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent people is a farce on its face. If the Palestinians truly desire to have this situation remedied, they need to completely abandon dealing with any Western entity, whatsoever, and instead move eastward towards Iran, move eastward towards Russia and deal with responsible players who have a vested interest in saying true justice being done rather than maintaining this illusion ... of peace talks with Israel when Israel does not intend for a moment to succeed even a handful of dirt to the Palestinian people.
Press TV: What do you think about the recent change that took place when Ya'alon resigned and Lieberman possibly coming, at this point I think confirmed to come on board? Of course Lieberman being so extreme right and they say that the Palestinians are going to really suffer from him coming on board, Ya'alon blaming the Prime Minister Netanyahu with the differences but he had some pretty harsh statements against Netanyahu. What would the future of Palestine and Palestinians look like with Lieberman now coming on board?
Glenn: Well I think that it goes from horrible to more horrible. Ya'alon, let’s not make any illusions about him being a man of peace or humanitarian or someone who sees the Palestinians as equal human beings, he does not. He has overseen various massacres of people there and he has done so with sewn lips and a smile on his face.
But nevertheless your point about Lieberman coming into the position of defense minister, if you want to call it defense, I prefer offense minister, this is a very bad sign because what it shows is that Israel as the rabid dog that former defense minister Moshe Ya'alon described Israel as being, that she is in the later stages of her rabies infection and that she is about to go on another bloodbath of Palestinians probably in Gaza but more importantly that now what it signifies is that Israel may be now planning to expand her borders outwards, past the West Bank and into these territories which according to the Zionist plan from the beginning, it goes much further than simply the land that exists now but rather incorporates everything between the Nile and Euphrates rivers.
