A shooting attack has left three people, including the assailant, dead and 11 others injured in Austria’s westernmost province of Vorarlberg.

Police said the incident happened near the town of Nenzing, located about 40 kilometers (24 miles) east of the Austrian border with Liechtenstein, at about 03:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) on Sunday.

The attack followed a loud argument between the 27-year-old assailant and a woman in a nearby parking lot.

The man then fetched a gun out of his car and went to an open air concert, where he appeared to fire randomly at a crowd of 150 people attending the event, before turning the gun on himself.

Local media quoted rescue workers as saying that some of the surviving victims were in serious condition.

Police spokeswoman, Susanne Dilp, described the victim’s wounds as “very diverse,” adding, “The exact course of events is still unclear.”

According to the state broadcaster ORF, the shooting occurred on property used by a motorcycle club, with the gunman apparently using a rifle or similar long weapon.
