Captain of the professional Iranian football club Zob Ahan is set to miss the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League showdown against Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates later this week after being ruled out of action for weeks with a hamstring injury.

Mehdi Rajabzadeh suffered the injury on May 13, while playing against Esteghlal Meli-Sanati Khuzestan Football Club, commonly known as Esteghlal Khuzestan, at multi-purpose Ghadir Stadium in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.

Esteghlal Khuzestan achieved a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Isfahan-based Zob Ahan, and won the championship of Iran’s Persian Gulf Pro League, formerly known as Iran Pro League (IPL).

Zob Ahan is scheduled to take on Al Ain at multi-purpose Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the city of Al Ain, the UAE, at 8:10 p.m. Tehran time (1540 GMT) on Wednesday.

While Zob Ahan players will be clad in white jerseys, goalkeeper Mohammad Rashid Mazaheri will have a sky blue kit on.

Al Ain soccer players, on the other hand, will be attired in purple costumes. Their goalie, who is yet to be elected between Emirati Khalifa Khaled, Waleed Salem, Khalid Eisa and Mahmoud Almas, will be wearing a dark jersey.
