Majority of Brazil senate to vote to Rousseff's suspension

  • The majority of Brazilian senators say that they will vote to suspend President Dilma Rousseff. Until now, 41 out of 81 senators have said that they will vote for an impeachment trial against Rousseff.The Brazilian senate's president predicts a final vote will be held in the next four hours.

  • Iran’s deputy envoy to the UN, Gholamhossein Dehghani says Tehran remains steadfast in its fight against terrorism.   • Syrian government forces have launched an offensive against Daesh takfiri terrorists near the ancient city of Palmyra.The operation comes a day after Daesh cut the main road from Homs city to Palmyra. Syrian warplanes bombed Daesh's positions during the ground operation by the army.
  • Palestinians prepare to mark the 68th anniversary of the Nakba Day amid tough restrictions by Israeli forces. Nakba Day is the day when more than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes. Israelis hold celebrations on this day. Check points to Jerusalem al-Quds have been closed.
  • Fire fighters in Canada are still struggling to contain a huge forest fire that has been raging on for over a week. Officials say that about 750 firefighters are battling the blaze in Fort McMurray. The fire, which is spreading eastward, has already destroyed about 2,400 buildings.
  • Asian stocks have experienced a slump following weak earnings in the US and Japan as well as a shaky performance in Asia. The Nikkei was down point-four percent while Toyota tumbled nearly three percent ahead of the release of fresh economic indicators out of China this week.
