Deep ocean creatures always surprise biologists and laymen alike for their bizarre and alien-looking shapes and structures. Using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), scientists recently discovered a UFO-like new species of jellyfish that was glowing with red and yellow lights in as deep as 3,700 meters (12,139 feet) beneath the waves in the Enigma Seamount of the Mariana Trench, located in the Western Pacific Ocean.
According to a statement by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the surreal-looking creature belongs to the genus Crossota and the radial canals in red within its bell are connecting points for what looks like the gonads in bright yellow.
