Bamboo, famous for its strength and flexibility, has been used for centuries. Now the bamboo bicycle is gaining popularity in Ghana.

Boomers International is a social enterprise training rural Ghanaian communities in the art of bamboo bicycle manufacture.

The company says it has the ambition of making bamboo a major global resource and to become the world's leader in the bamboo manufacturing industry.

Inside the workshop the workers are all using their hands, there are no robots on this production line.

All the bikes have been tested in Germany to tight European safety standards, and they've also passed the relative international testing regulations.
