An extraordinary collection of Middle-Eastern artifacts is set to go on auction in London. Sotheby is holding the event as part of its annual orientalist and Middle Eastern week in London Auction House.

There are manuscripts, paintings, jewelry and some other works of art which are expected to attract top bids on April 19th.

For instance, a 16th century Ottoman box, decorated in tortoise shell, mother-of-pearl and ivory is estimated to be sold for at least 280000 dollars.

There’s also a very rare 10th century Persian chess set which is one of the earliest in existence. “Morning Prayers” is a painting depicting a 19th century man worshiping in a Cairo mosque. It is estimated to fetch up to one-million dollars.
