OIC summit in Turkey
Turkey hosted a crucial summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation over the past few days. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has slammed as unacceptable "any divisive move" at the ongoing Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference. Rouhani's remarks came amid Saudi Arabia's efforts to include statements against Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah in the draft declaration.
Saudi-US relations on the rocks
The US relations with Saudi Arabia are once again in the spotlight in America after reports said President Barack Obama will within 60 days decide whether to declassify 28 pages of sealed documents relating to the 9/11 attack. Some suspect that the documents show a Saudi connection to the 9/11 attacks. Bob Graham, a former US senator who co-chaired the 2002 joint congressional inquiry into 9/11 has been pushing for the documents to be made public.
US rights report
The US has released its annual human rights report. As usual a number of countries have been singled out for their so-called poor human rights records. Iran, Russia, China and a number of other countries have been criticized for alleged human rights violations. Some US allies have also been criticized in the report.
