Press TV has conducted an interview with Kevin Barrett, editor at the Veterans Today from Madison, and political analyst Jihad Mouracadeh from Beirut to discuss the anti-Iran articles of a final statement issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) following a two-day meeting in Istanbul.

Barrett criticizes the double-standard stance of the document, saying the OIC claims Iran is supporting terrorism, while the whole world is witnessing the bloodbath created by Saudi-sponsored Takfiri terror groups like Daesh in Iraq and Syria.

He says the OIC was established to stand against the Israeli regime’s threats against Muslim nations, especially the Palestinian people, but its recent anti-Iran communiqué is “a complete betrayal of what the OIC is supposed to stand for.”

Saudi Arabia is using the most advanced techniques to manipulate public opinion and sow the seeds of hatred against the Islamic Republic and Shia Muslims, including the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, he says.

“The Saudis have been pursuing a very very aggressive anti-Iran policy,” says Barrett, adding that Riyadh has adopted more of such hostile policies since Hezbollah defeated Israel in the 33-day war on Lebanon in 2006.

The Saudi rulers “decided to go along with the Zionists in whipping up a sectarian war of Sunni versus Shia and we’ve been seeing this anti-Shia and anti-Iran propaganda fueled by billions of billions of Saudi petro-dollars since 2006, 2007.”

Mouracadeh, for his part, defends the OIC’s final statement, saying it “is not anti-Iran,” but calls on the Islamic Republic “to solve its problems with its neighbors” in a peaceful manner.

He also says the communiqué “does not consider Iran as being a pariah state, it considers Iran as being a neighbor.”
