Press TV has interviewed Eli Joseph James, a radio host and political commentator, and Frederick Peterson, a congressional defense policy adviser, to discuss a recent UN Human Rights Council vote that blacklists companies operating in illegal Israeli settlements.
James says the Balfour Declaration and a British mandate empowered the global Zionist community to have an “open policy of theft, destruction, occupation mayhem and brutal occupation” in Palestine.
So, he adds, “the Palestinian people really have no recourse in the international community because the global Zionists control the Western media” and the agony of Palestinian people is not circulated by the vast majority of the press throughout the world.
“Until we have an equal story being told, the Palestinian side being told by the mass media—which is not—the truth about this brutal occupation will simply go underneath of cover yet again, because the UN is a paper tiger [that] has not been able to enforce any resolution” against Israel in the last 50 or 60 years, he says.
Peterson, for his part, says Israel and its allies contest the idea that the settlements in occupied lands are “illegal,” adding that whether the UN sanctions against Israeli products are enforceable or not is a matter to be seen in the future.
