EU countries agree to share intelligence data

European Union justice and home affairs ministers have pledged to boost their cooperation and share intelligence data to prevent attacks similar to the ones in Brussels and Paris. At an emergency meeting between the ministers, the Dutch interior minister said the countries will very soon need to implement a Passenger Name Records or PNR. Ronald Plasterk added that the legislation on combating terrorism should be swiftly implemented. The French interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve also said agreement on implementing PNR has been reached and Europe should stop delaying it. The Belgium attacks have highlighted the issue of passenger data sharing. Opponents of the legislation emphasize the significance of people’s privacy while supporters argue it is necessary to prevent terror attacks.
