Clashes continue between Ukrainian army forces and pro-Russia militia in the country’s volatile east. Kiev says Ukrainian military positions in the Donbas region were shelled nearly 50 times on Wednesday. Ukrainian military checkpoints were also attacked near the city of Luhansk. According to the army, grenade launchers and submachine guns were fired at its positions near the cities of Donetsk and Mariupol. Pro-Russia forces have also reported two attacks on the city of Luhansk over the past 24 hours. There have been no reports of any casualties. The peace deal signed between Kiev and the representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in February 2015, has been violated on an almost daily basis. Over 9,000 people have lost their lives in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, since April 2014.
