Israeli military forces have shot and killed three Palestinians over alleged shooting and stabbing attacks across the Old City of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as well as the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said on Wednesday that Israeli forces killed two Palestinians accused of having conducted two separate attacks in al-Quds.

The two were killed after the second alleged attack, in which they were said to have shot and seriously wounded a 50-year-old man near Damascus Gate in al-Quds.

Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, reported that the man is in serious condition.

Less than an hour earlier, the two armed men had purportedly targeted passengers aboard an Israeli bus in the Ramot neighborhood of occupied al-Quds with gunfire.

The alleged attackers had escaped the scene but were found when they conducted the second attack.

Also on Wednesday, a Palestinian man was killed and another seriously wounded while allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli soldier northwest of the central West Bank city of Salfit.

The occupied territories have been the scene of heightened tensions from Israel’s imposition in August 2015 of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

Nearly 200 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of last October.
