Iranian archer Omid Taheri has displayed satisfactory performances at the 2016 World Archery Indoor Championships in Turkey, and managed to take home a bronze medal from the prestigious event.
On Sunday, Taheri competed in the third-place match of the men's individual compound section against Slovenian 2001 world champion Dejan Sitar at the Congresium International Convention & Exhibition Center in the Turkish capital city of Ankara, and emerged victorious 147-142 to snatch the bronze.
Sebastien Peineau of France received the gold medal, and Dutch archer Mike Schloesser claimed silver.
Taheri, who edged past an opponent from Russia 149-146 in his first challenge in the first round of men’s individual compound category, defeated representatives from the United States and Russia (148-146 and 147-145 respectively) in the next contests, before falling to Peineau 147-150 in the semifinals.
The 2016 World Archery Indoor Championships started in Ankara, Turkey, on March 1, and wrapped up on March 6.
The international sports event attracted dozens of archers from various world countries, including Belgium, France, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Mexico, the Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey and the United States.
