Iran's FM to address OIC summit on Israel’s crimes

• Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Iran will use the summit of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation to highlight Israel's threat to the Muslim world. Zarif made the comment upon arrival in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. He is also set to meet with Indonesian officials during the visit.
• Chinese President Xi Jinping says Beijing will never allow Taiwan to break away from the rest of the country again. He said China will firmly stand against secessionist activities and protect its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Taiwan elected its new president and legislature from the independence-leaning party in January.
• Preliminary results show Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico has won the general elections. Fico’s ruling Smer-Social Democracy Party has, however, failed to secure enough parliamentary seats to form a majority. He will now need a coalition partner to govern. The win will keep Fico in power for the third term.
• The Campaign Against Arms Trade warns about holding a UK-sponsored security trade fair, saying it will be used to sell non-lethal weapons to oppressive regimes. The rights group said some of the participating countries practice appalling acts of violence. Nearly 80 countries, including Saudi Arabia, will attend the show this week.
• Germany’s Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel has criticized US Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump for his political and economic views. He has called Trump a threat to global peace and economic development. Gabriel has also described Trump’s call for isolated economies within national borders as backward.
• A confidential NATO report has praised Russia’s anti-terrorist airstrikes in Syria as accurate, efficient, and professional. According to German media, the report hails Russia for making the greatest contribution in stopping the terrorists. The document also says that Russian air raids have outperformed those of the US-led coalition.
• A new report by the Applied Research Institute Jerusalem shows that Israel demolished nearly 100 Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank last month. It says demolition orders were also issued for 139 Palestinian houses and facilities. The demolitions have displaced thousands of Palestinians in recent years.
• Tunisian politicians and civil society groups slam a recent decision by some Arab states to brand Hezbollah as a terrorist group. They've organized nationwide events and rallies to express support for the Lebanese resistance movement. Iran has also condemned the move, saying it disgusts all freedom-seekers in the Arab world.
