Iraq has summoned the Emirati ambassador to Baghdad after the sheikhdom’s foreign minister labeled Iraqi popular mobilization forces as terrorists.
This comes after the office of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi described the comments by Abdullah Bin Ziad Al Nahyan as interference in Iraq’s internal affairs. Abadi’s office described as heroes Iraq’s popular forces who are fighting alongside the army to purge the country of terrorists. Meanwhile, the Iraqi parliament has said the Emirati foreign minister’s remarks amount to supporting terrorism. Al Nahyan had called for removing the popular forces in Iraq. He also claimed that ending the Daesh threats needs to be started by removing the Iraqi popular forces.
