Sugar can harm brain like abuse and stress

Australian researchers have announced that sugar can harm the brain just as abuse and stress.

Scientists have observed extensive changes to the part of the brain that controls behavior and emotions in rats that consumed sugar-water.

Researchers say that the effect of sugary drinks on the brains of rats was similar to that caused by extreme early life stress.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization recommends no more than 10 percent of a person's daily energy should come from added sugars, or those found naturally in juices and honey.

That equates to around 50 grams or 12 teaspoons a day.
