In this edition of The Debate, Press TV has conducted an interview with Mark Thornton, a senior fellow at the Mises Institute, from Alabama, and the columnist of The Hill, Brent Budowsky, from Washington, to discuss UK Prime Minister David Cameron's negotiations with the European Union (EU) over reforms in the bloc.
Thornton believes that given the current pessimism that exists among the European people and officials on the function of the European Union, Britain’s probable exit from the bloc could trigger a process that will finally lead to the departure of all members.
The EU should carry out fundamental reforms, otherwise all of its member states will leave it entirely, he cautioned.
Meanwhile, Budowsky believes that regardless of Europe’s current refugee crisis, the EU is grappling with a lot of internal headaches right now, adding that on the one hand the bloc is facing with Cameron and his greedy demands, while on the other hand it is trying to get some of its members like Greece and Spain out of their economic troubles.
I think at the end of the day the EU will hold together and the UK will stay in it, unless it would be a tragedy for the entire world, he reiterated.
