North Korea releases video of new missile test

Here is a round-up of global news developments:

  • Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says an aggressive front has been established to uproot the Islamic Revolution. The leader noted that the enemies of the revolution from American and Zionist leaders to Daesh Takfiri terrorists are doing all they have in their power to achieve this goal.
     
  • Iran's foreign minister says Saudi Arabia must choose between promoting regional stability and encouraging sectarian hatred. In a letter to UN Chief Ban Ki-moon, Mohammad Javad Zarif also accused Riyadh of engaging in numerous provocations against Tehran. He noted that Iran has no interest in escalating regional tensions.
     
  • Israeli soldiers have shot and killed two Palestinians at a checkpoint between the Jordan Valley area and the West Bank. They were killed for allegedly trying to stab Israeli soldiers, however no injuries have been reported. At least 152 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since last October.
     
  • Israel continues the policy of demolishing Palestinians' homes in the occupied territories. Israeli bulldozers have leveled the home of Mohannad al-Halabi in the town of Sarad in northern Ramallah. Halabi carried out an anti-Israeli attack in Jerusalem al-Quds in October. He was shot dead by Israeli soldiers the day after.
     
  • Tel Aviv has returned the bodies of four Palestinians killed by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank. Israel is accused of keeping the bodies of slain Palestinians as a tactic to trigger anger and unleash further violence across the occupied territories. Dozens of bodies are still withheld.
     
  • The Iraqi army has rejected Ankara’s claims of Daesh attacking Turkish forces in the Bashiqa camp in northern Iraq. The army’s statement comes a day after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cited the alleged attack to justify Turkey’s decision to deploy troops to Iraq.
     
  • US drone strikes in eastern Afghanistan have left over two dozen people dead. Local police say 26 Daesh members were killed in the attack in Nangarhar province. The US military claims militants are targeted in its overseas drone strikes but large numbers of civilians have fallen victim to the raids.
     
  • North Korea has released a new video of a submarine-launched ballistic missile test. It shows leader Kim Jong-un watching the test on board an army vessel South Korea suggests that the video is an edited version of the North's third missile test conducted in the Sea of Japan last month.
