Venezuela opposition names Henry Ramos Allup assembly head.

Venezuelan opposition lawmakers have chosen a veteran politician as the new head of the country's legislative body following a landslide victory in parliamentary elections on December 6. 72-year-old Henry Ramos Allup has promised to start constitutional procedures to replace the current government during the first half of this year. Socialists, however, argue the issue could only be decided through a popular vote.
