Israeli forces have shot and killed another Palestinian after accusing him of carrying out a stabbing attack in the occupied West Bank.
According to Israeli sources, the shooting assault took place in the city of Bethlehem on Tuesday when the Palestinian allegedly attacked an Israeli soldier at the Gush Etzion junction.
The Israeli soldier is said to have been seriously injured.
Tensions have been simmering in the occupied territories for over three months now.
The latest wave of tensions was triggered by Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The restrictions have enraged Palestinians, who are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers frequently storming the al-Aqsa Mosque. They say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
At least 145 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of the wave of violence. Some 25 Israelis have also died since October.
