An Afghan army helicopter has crashed in the war-torn country's east, killing three air crew and wounding another, Afghan officials say.
According to Afghanistan's Defense Ministry spokesman General Dawlat Waziri, the incident occurred on Sunday around 1:30 pm local time when an MI-17 helicopter for the Afghan army crashed in Logar Province.
The spokesman said the crash was caused by technical problems.
Mi-17 helicopters are used as cargo ships, but are also suitable for operations in Afghanistan's mountain regions.
Afghanistan is gripped by insecurity nearly 14 years after the United States and its allies attacked the country in 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. Although the attack overthrew the Taliban, many areas across Afghanistan still face violence and insecurity.
