With Daesh losing over half of the territory it previously controlled in Iraq, the Iraqi nation hopes 2016 will mark the end of the terror group’s presence in the country. During the past year, Iraqi forces managed to liberate strategic cities of Tikrit in Salahuddin province and Ramadi in Anbar. They also pushed the terrorists out of the pre-dominantly Izadi district of Sinjar in Iraq’s north.
