1. The Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Pakistan to meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif during a surprise visit to the country. Before arriving in Pakistan, Modi was in Afghanistan to hand over four Mi-25 attack helicopters to Kabul and inaugurate the country’s new parliament building constructed by New Delhi.
2. Syria calls for stepping up international efforts to stop the infiltration of terrorists from Turkey and Jordan. Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem says sources of terrorism need to be dried up in order to reach a political settlement in the war-torn country. Ankara and Amman are accused of facilitating terrorists' infiltration into Syria.
3. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says it will take a lot of efforts to help restore stability in the Middle East. He expressed hope that negotiations over the Syrian crisis will start in January. Lavrov made the comments in a meeting with his Qatari counterpart in Moscow.
4. The latest clashes between the Turkish army and militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK has claimed nearly a dozen lives. The Turkish military says seven PKK militants and a soldier were killed during fighting in the border town of Jizre. Three Kurdish militants also died in the city of Diyarbakir.
5. Iraq says evidence it found in its operations proves that Turkey is helping the Daesh terrorists. Commander of Iraq’s volunteer forces Karim al-Nouri says Ankara provides the greatest logistic support and supply routes for Daesh. He accused Turkey of recruiting terrorists from other countries for the Takfiri group.
6. Japan’s Okinawa region is countersuing the central government over the relocation of a US military base on the island. The move came after the government filed a lawsuit against Okinawa’s governor Takeshi Onaga to force him into allowing the construction of the military facility for the US troops.
7. Thousands of Dutch citizens rally for peace in the city of Eindhoven. The demonstrators condemned Islamophobic and terrorist attacks against migrants. The march is held annually on the anniversary of the 1993 arson attack against migrants in Germany, in which five Muslims from Turkey were killed.
8. The US is set to deport migrant families fleeing violence and drought in Central America. The US Department of Homeland Security is prepared to start rounding up hundreds of illegal migrants who have evaded a final order to leave the country.
