Iraqi army liberates more areas in Ramadi

1. Iraqi armed forces continue operations aimed at liberating the central city of Ramadi from Daesh. The government troops fought their way into Ramadi’s center, clearing residential districts from the terrorists. The Iraqi army began an all-out offensive early Tuesday in a bid to retake the city.

2. Israeli forces have killed one more Palestinian over alleged knife attacks, raising to 131 the number of people killed since October 1. Israeli police say the Palestinian was shot dead after he stabbed three Israelis near Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem al-Quds.

3. The leader of Britain’s Labour Party has called the soaring homelessness in the country a disgrace. Jeremy Corbyn says the Conservative government’s austerity measures are the main reason behind the deteriorating trend. Official figures show nearly 69,000 of British families had to stay in temporary housing between July and September.

4. A British Muslim family has been prevented from flying from Britain to the US. The family was going on a vacation to Los Angeles when US Homeland Security officials in the Gatwick airport told them that their authorization to travel to America has been canceled.

5. Anti-war activists have rallied in the German capital Berlin to condemn the country's involvement in Syria's conflict. The protesters urged the government to avoid sending troops to Syria. Earlier this month, the German government gave the army the go-ahead to assist in the campaign against Daesh in Syria.

6. The Spanish prime minister is set to meet Leader of the Socialist Party Pedro Sanchez in an attempt to form a coalition government. Mariano Rajoy’s Popular Party won Sunday’s general elections, but fell short of an absolute majority to form a cabinet.

7. A new report says Nigerian forces opened fire on unarmed Shia children with no provocation before a raid that killed hundreds of Muslims. The report by Human Rights Watch also doubts the Nigerian army’s version that its raid against the Shia Muslims in Zaria followed an attempted assassination of the army chief.

8. One person has been killed and another injured in an explosion at an airport in the Turkish city of Istanbul. They were airport cleaning staff. The blast occurred early Wednesday when no passengers were in the area. Authorities say routine operations are continuing normally at the airport.
