Iran's Cinéma Vérité filmfest announces 2015 winners

Iran's 9th edition of Iranian international festival for documentary films, Cinéma Vérité, wraps ups in the capital Tehran.

The 9th edition of the Iranian international festival for documentary films, Cinéma Vérité, has named this year's winners during a ceremony held in the capital, Tehran.

A group of Iranian officials and cineastes attended the closing ceremony of the annual event at Tehran's Vahdat Hall on Sunday.

The International Shahdi Avini Award for the Best Documentary went to Iranian director and producer Mehdi Ja’fari for 'Name and Sign.'

The International Shahid Avini Award for the Best Short Documentary was granted to 'Address' by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Bakhtiari, while Iran's Mohsen Eslamzadeh received the International Shahid Avini Award for the Best Mid-Length Documentary for 'Alone among the Taliban.'

Iranian director Mehdi Qorbanpour won the International Shahid Avini Award for the Best Full-Length Documentary for 'Zemnako.' 

In the International Competition Section, South Korea's Jin Mo-Young received the Best Full-Length Documentary Award for 'My Love, Don't Cross That River.'

The Best Short- and Mid-Length Documentary Award of the section went to 'The Chechen Family' by Argentine filmmaker Martin Sola.

The 9th Cinéma Vérité International Documentary Film Festival ran from December 13 to 19, screening productions from 25 countries.

Organized by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the annual event also held a number of workshops by a group of world-renowned film experts and documentary filmmakers.
