Iran deputy FM: New US law violates JCPOA

1. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the US to stop selling weapons to Taiwan. In a phone conversation with his American counterpart, the top diplomat also urged Washington to stop its show of force with ship and aircraft patrols close to Chinese-controlled islets in the South China Sea.

2. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has slammed the recent US law which restricts visa-free travel to the country for those who have visited Iran and several other countries. Araqchi said the legislation is in violation of the nuclear deal between Tehran and the P5+1.

3. Saudi warplanes have again violated a ceasefire in Yemen killing at least six civilians in the province of Hudaydah. Earlier on Sunday, Saudi fighter jets killed five women in the province of Sa'ada. Yemeni forces have, in response, killed over a dozen Saudi soldiers in the kingdom's Jizan region.

4. The Syrian army, backed by Hezbollah fighters, purges the strategic city of Khan Tuman in Aleppo province from Daesh and other foreign-backed terrorist groups. The army has inflicted heavy losses on foreign-backed militants over the past few months.

5. People in Lebanon have held mourning ceremony for Lebanese resistance commander Samir Quntar who was assassinated by an Israeli strike in Syria on Sunday. Deputy Leader of Hezbollah Sheik Naim Qassem took part in the event. Hezbollah has vowed Quntar's death will not go unpunished.

6. Greek lawmakers are set to vote on recognition of Palestine as a state on Monday. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will attend the parliamentary session. The vote will serve as a symbolic move that will not be binding for the country’s government.

7. Spain’s ruling conservatives have won in the country's general elections. However, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's party has fallen short of an overall majority to form a government. The Socialists are in the second position and the new anti-austerity Podemos came in the third.

8. Thousands have flooded the streets of Montenegro’s capital Pod-Grit-Se to protest against the government’s plans to join NATO. The demonstrators demanded early elections and a referendum on any accession to the military alliance. NATO officially invited Montenegro to join the alliance earlier this month.
