Yemenis kill nearly 150 Saudi forces in missile attacks

Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and allied army units have managed to kill nearly 150 troops working for Saudi Arabia in two ballistic missile attacks against Saudi bases in the impoverished country.

The first Qaher1 missile hit Safer military base located in the central Ma'rib province on Saturday night and killed 68 forces, including some senior military officials, the Arabic-language al-Masirah satellite television network reported, citing a military source.

The huge explosion also destroyed eight Apache helicopters, a drones’ command center, two Chinook airplanes as well as a number of tanks and military vehicles.

The second Yemeni Qaher1 ballistic missile targeted a gathering of Saudi forces in al-Tawal border crossing, which links Yemen’s northwestern province of Hajjah to Saudi’s southwestern province of Jizan. The massive blast slew 79 Saudi troops and wounded 100 others.

Yemenis carry out these attacks in retaliation for Saudi strikes, launched with the aim of undermining Houthi Ansarullah movement and bringing back to power the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

More than 7,500 people have been killed and over 14,000 others injured since the strikes began in March. The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on the impoverished country’s facilities and infrastructure.
