US Secretary of State John Kerry’s criticism of Israel for its policies against Palestinians are nothing more than “crocodile tears,” an anti-war activist in California says.
The nature of Israel has been to sow chaos in the Middle East while being an instrument and “attack dog” of American hegemony in the region, Ralph Schoenman told Press TV on Sunday.
“Israel is an attack dog of US imperialism; it has always been its instrument in the area,” Schoenman said.
Israel has pushed the Palestinian people out of their rightful land and continues to attack other states and fund terrorist activity in the region, he noted.
On Saturday, Kerry warned Israel over its illegal settlement activities in the Palestinian occupied territories, saying it would lead to the collapse of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
"The continued settlement growth raises honest questions about Israel's long-term intentions and will only make separating from the Palestinians much more difficult," Kerry said in a speech to the Brookings Institution in Washington.
Kerry, who traveled to the Middle East region last month, also censured some Israeli cabinet ministers for rejecting a two-state solution.
Kerry’s condemnation of Israel comes as Washington continues to arm and finance the Zionist regime, Schoenman pointed out.
Israel continues to murder Palestinian civilians with impunity, Schoemann said, citing Mazin Qumsiyeh, a Palestinian scientist and author.
More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlement colonies built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds.
The United Nations and most countries regard the Israeli settlements as illegal because the territories were captured by Israel in a war in 1967 and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbids construction on occupied lands.
