Macedonia, Norway eye soccer friendly matches with Iran: Official

Iran men's national football team

President of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) Ali Kaffashian says European countries of Macedonia and Norway have voiced their preparedness to feature against Iran men’s national soccer team in friendly matches.

A number of countries have put in their requests to play friendlies with Iran. The manager of the Iranian national football team, Carlos Queiroz, would though take the final decision and see the games do not fall on the squad’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, Kaffashian said.

He went on to say that Norway and Macedonia have already voiced own eagerness to face Iran, noting all Asian national soccer teams are also interested in playing friendly matches against.

On November 17, Understaffed Iran men's national soccer team put on a sparkling performance in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, conquering the Guam side with an easy six-goal margin.

The Iranian outfit, which was missing some players and staffers because of visa issues, brushed aside the hosts 6-0 in its fifth Group D qualifier for the prestigious international association football competition at the Guam Football Association Field in Dededo.

The win lifted unbeaten Iran men's national soccer team to 14 points, and landed it at the top of the Group D standings. Iran will face off with India on March 24, 2016.
