Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to meet with senior Iranian officials and participate in the third summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Putin met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei shortly after arrival in Tehran.
He is also scheduled to meet with President Hassan Rouhani later on Monday.
The Russian president will also be attending the third summit of the GECF.
Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela are members of the forum.
Kazakhstan, Iraq, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Peru, and Azerbaijan are the observer members.
GPCE members reportedly account for 42 percent of global gas output, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 percent of global trade of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
