Press TV has conducted an interview with Rodney Shakespeare, a political commentator in London, to discuss a recent report by the Amnesty International which has warned that refugee border controls by European nations will only cause a range of human rights abuses.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Mr. Shakespeare welcome to the program. Give us your thoughts on a recent report issued by Amnesty International.

Shakespeare: Inside the countries of Europe, including the UK we are hurtling towards George Orwell’s 1984, that is to say a complete pre-state suppression of all liberties particularly any liberty of free speech or even freedom of association. Externally, we are breaking all our commitments on human rights and behaving in an aggressive and brutal way and in both cases the reason is because at heart of our policies is the actual support for ISIS or Daesh.

It is we who are hand in glove with forces which are creating this flood of refugees in Europe. I name that one Saudi Arabia; the Takfiri self-righteous arrogance which says that it is superior to everybody, including other Muslims. [Daesh] comes from Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia; the financing is coming from Saudi Arabia. The supply of American arms [inaudible].
