Syrian armed forces continue their anti-terror operations across the country, killing a number of Takfiri militants during their advances.

According to a report by Lebanon’s al-Ahed news website, Syrian forces, backed by Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance fighters, launched mortar attacks on Daesh positions in Jarajir and Jayrud villages in the mountainous Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border, inflicting losses on them.

Syrian fighter jets also bombarded terrorist positions in Qalamoun, killing and injuring a number of militants.

Elsewhere in the country, four more Daesh terrorists were killed by Syrian forces in the district of al-Hawl in the northeastern province of Hasakah, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

In another development, several ringleaders of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) militant group died in clashes with Syrian troops in the northern province of Aleppo.

Meanwhile, Russian military aircraft pounded terrorist hideouts in the suburbs of the northwestern city of Idlib, killing several of them.

Russia launched its air campaign against terrorist groups in Syria on September 30 upon a request from the Syrian government. Moscow says its strikes are aimed at helping the Syrian army in its battles against terror groups.

The crisis in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of over 250,000 people and displaced nearly half of the country’s population within or out of its borders.
