Falling meteor lights up Thai skies

A falling star crosses the night sky over the North Sea coast in Pilsum, northwestern Germany, during the peak in activity of the annual Perseids meteor shower on August 13, 2015. The Perseids meteor shower occurs every year when the Earth passes through the cloud of debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle. (AFP)

It is pretty rare to see a meteor falling out of the sky. But one such instance was actually captured on camera in Thailand. And it’s remarkable!

The meteor rushed across the sky with a green trail behind it which gave drivers a startling, yet amazing moment. The event was recorded on some local residents’ car dashboard cameras in the capital Bangkok. The heavenly body was also spotted elsewhere in the country. It briefly flared up before dying out and falling toward Earth.
