Iranian male and female sports shooters have exhibited great performances at the 13th edition of Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait, and collected seven medals, including two gold ones, at the continental tournament.
On Wednesday, the Iranian squad, consisting of Alireza Davoud-Abadi, Seyyed Mehdi Mortazavi and Amir Mohammad Nekounaam, finished in the second place at the end of the preliminary round of men’s 10m-air-rifle junior team competitions at the Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex in Kuwait City, and received the silver medal.
Later in the day, Davoud-Abadi took part in the individual contests of this category, and was awarded the silver. Representatives from South Korea claimed the gold and bronze medals.
In the final of men’s 10m-air-rifle, Pouriya Norouziyan accumulated 628.5 points to land in the third spot and scoop up the bronze medal.
Chinese male shooters received The Iranian squad, consisting of Hossein Bagheri, Pouriya Norouziyan and Mohammad Zaer-Rezaei, vied in the men’s 10m-air-rifle team contests, and claimed the bronze.
Chinese and South Korean shooting teams earned the gold and silver medals in this discipline.
Additionally, Iran team, comprised of Fatemeh Karamzadeh, Najmeh Khedmati, participated in the women’s 50m-prone youth competitions, and amassed 1740.7 points and claimed the top spot.
Karamzadeh took part in the women’s 50m-prone individual contests and registered 617.3 points to snatch the gold medal. An Indian shooter bagged the silver. Khedmati notched up 614.3 points and picked up the bronze for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The 13th edition of Asian Shooting Championships started in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on November 1, and will finish on November 12.
