One man has been killed and at least seven people have been injured in a spate of shootings that spanned New York City's different neighborhoods from late Saturday through early Sunday, authorities say.
In a fatal shooting in the Bronx, a 46-year-old man was shot at the grocery store where he worked about 10 a.m. Sunday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said. The victim, whose name was not released to the media, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police added.
The first shooting on Saturday took place after 11:30 p.m., when a 37-year-old man was shot in the leg in Manhattan’s East Harlem neighborhood, the NYPD said. He was taken to the hospital and was in a stable condition.
Shortly after midnight, another man was shot in the leg along in Queens, police said.
Five more shootings broke out early Sunday, in one of which a 48-year-old man in Brooklyn was allegedly shot by his wife after a domestic dispute, police said.
Elsewhere in Brooklyn, a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg near before 5 a.m. on Sunday, after a dispute, police said.
About the same time in Queens’ Bayside neighborhood, two men were shot when a house party went out of control, police said. The two men, 23 and 27 years old, were shot after a dispute inside the home and were in stable condition, police said.
Another man in Queens was shot in the stomach after a dispute on the 43rd Avenue just before 6:30 a.m., police said. The 29-year-old was taken to a medical center, where he also was reported to be in a stable condition, police said.
