Iran men’s national handball team has defeated the Croatian squad Isole in a warm-up match as it is preparing for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics qualifying games, which are scheduled to be held in the Persian Gulf kingdom of Qatar next month.
On Tuesday evening, the Iranian side exhibited an awe-inspiring display of skills and strength in Zagreb, and edged past the host nation’s team 36-21 in its opening friendly match in the Eastern European country.
Iran national handball team is scheduled to stay in Croatia for fortnight, during which it will play seven friendly matches.
The Persians are getting ready for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics qualifiers. The tournament will be held from November 14 to 23, 2015 in the Qatari capital city of Doha.
Australia, Bahrain, China, Iraq, Kuwait and South Korea are in Group A of the Asian qualifying games.
Iran has been drawn in Group B along with Japan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
The handball tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will be held from August 6 to 21 at the Olympic Training Center.
