At least 20 people have been killed in an accident on a highway between the capital, Tehran, and the city of Qom, the head of the provincial traffic police says.
Colonel Ardeshir Jamshidi-Rad, the head of traffic police in Qom Province, said that the deadly accident took place 14 kilometers into the old Qom-Tehran Highway on Sunday evening, when a truck deviated into oncoming traffic and collided with a passenger mini bus and a taxi coming from the opposite direction.
The official also said that the victims included two Iranians and 18 Afghan nationals.
He did not specify the number of people injured in the crash.
Sources say investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
