Thousands of people have staged a demonstration in Jordan to denounce the Israeli acts of aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the Old City of al-Quds (Jeruslem), and demanded an end to diplomatic ties with the Tel Aviv regime.

On Friday, nearly 2,000 Jordanians converged near the Israeli embassy in the capital, Amman, waving national and Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against Israeli provocation at the al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds. The demonstrators also set the Israeli flag aflame.

Deputy Secretary General of the Islamic Action Front political party, Ali Abu Sukkar, said people should not remain silent in the face of escalating attacks against Palestinians in al-Quds.

"Al-Aqsa is a line of blood, and not just a red line. Our people support the al-Quds Intifada,” he said.

Sukkar added that Palestinians have proven over the years that despite their lack of weapons and Israel’s heavy crackdown, they are still able to "stab the heart of the entity."

“It is impossible to be indifferent and say nothing about what is going on in Palestine and at al-Aqsa (Mosque)," he noted.

On Friday, Gazan Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra said 20-year-old Abdul Qader Farhan was fatally shot as Israeli troopers fired live bullets to disperse Palestinian protesters in the city of Beit Hanoun.

Qudra added that as many as 27 Palestinians were also wounded during clashes in other areas of the Gaza Strip.

The new death in Gaza came hours after 37-year-old Shawqi Jabr Obeid succumbed to the gunshot wounds he had sustained during clashes with Israeli soldiers along the Gaza border last week.

Israeli forces also killed a 19-year old Palestinian, identified as Ehab Hanani, during clashes in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, located approximately 49 kilometers (30 mi) north of al-Quds.

Meanwhile, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has also called for resistance in the face of heightened Israeli military aggression against Palestinians.

The PLO also called upon officials within the Palestinian Authority to ignore calls for quelling Palestinian resistance.

The fresh wave of tensions was triggered by the Israeli regime’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by illegal Israeli settlers, who frequently storm al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina. They say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
