The Toronto zoo has welcomed a pair of new arrivals! A giant panda has given birth to adorable twins which are the first ones ever to be born in Canada after the zoo accepted two pandas on loan from China in 2013.

At the moment, the cubs’ gender is not known. The little ones were born through artificial insemination. Although both the cubs and the mother are said to be doing well, the newborns are being monitored around the clock as the next several hours and days are critical to their survival. The cubs will now remain in the maternity area of the zoo’s panda house and will not be shown to the public for a couple of months.
