Iranian male and female ping pong players have recorded five glorious victories over their opponents at the 22nd edition of Asian Table Tennis Championship in Thailand.
On Saturday, Iran men’s national table tennis team, comprised of 22-year-old athlete Nima Alamiyan, his elder brother, Noshad, and Afshin Norouzi, pulled out a hard-fought 3-1 win against the Saudi Arabian squad in its opening encounter at the Indoor Athletics Stadium in the resort city of Pattaya, located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) southeast of the capital, Bangkok.
The Iranian sportsmen later eased past Lebanon 3-0 in a one-sided match.
Iran men’s national table tennis team is scheduled to play against Indonesia within hours.
Additionally, Iran women’s national table tennis team crushed Bangladesh and Laos 3-0 both in its first two fixtures on Saturday, before pummeling Macau 3-1 in the last encounter of the preliminary round to advance to the next stage.
The 22nd edition of Asian Table Tennis Championship opened in Pattaya, Thailand, on September 26 and will wrap up on October 3.
