Iran's first intl. iron, steel conference underway in Kish

Iran's first international iron and steel conference has started in the Persian Gulf island of Kish attended by high-ranking industrial officials as well as executives from creditable domestic and foreign companies.

According to the Iranian media on Tuesday, the event is sponsored by Metal Bulletin international institute and aims to introduce Iran's capacities in iron, steel and mineral industries.

Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia, and head of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization Mehdi Karbasian were among keynote speakers of the conference.

Facilitation of international relations in the field of iron and steel industry as well as introducing the latest global developments in iron and steel industry are other goals of the confab.

The participants will also discuss ways of identifying target markets, share of private sector in these industries, long-term plans for the development of iron and steel sector, and transfer of technology needed for the development of these industries.

Representatives from 25 countries, including Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the UK, South Korea, Finland, Russia, China, India, and the United Arab Emirates are present in the event in addition to representatives of the most important Iranian steel companies, including Mobarakeh Steel Company, Khuzestan Steel Company, Isfahan Steel Company and the National Iranian Steel Company.

An exhibition is also underway on the sidelines of the conference (pictured above) in which major international companies introduce their latest achievements as well as the most recent software and hardware advances in related fields.

The conference started at the Kish International Convention Center on the Iranian island of Kish on Monday and will continue through Wednesday.
