Young Iranian freestyle wrestlers collect four medals

Young Iranian freestyle wrestlers have pocketed four medals, including two silvers, at the 2015 Cadet World Championships in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Saturday, Amir Mohammad Yazdani conceded an 8-0 defeat by a technical fall to Russia’s Ivan Okoneshnikov in the last encounter of men’s 42-kilogram weight category at the Amel Beckovic Sports Hall in Sarajevo, and garnered the silver medal.

Azeri competitor Shahin Mukhtarov overcame Tzvetan Mustafov from Bulgaria 10-0 by a technical fall to receive the bronze. Kyrgyz wrestler Irlasbek Nurakhmet routed Uzbekistan’s Islom Ilkhomov 4-2 to garner another bronze in this category.

In the 50-kilogram class, Iran’s Erfan Aeini was downed 6-10 by Indian rival Anil Anil in the last competition to take home another silver medal.

Amir Hossein Kavousi and Mojtaba Osmavandani also picked up bronze medals in the 58-kilogram and 69-kilogram weight categories respectively after beating Canadian Connor Mcneice 12-8 and Georgia’s Iveriko Julakidze 8-6 in their third place bouts.

The 2015 Cadet World Championships opened in Sarajevo on August 25, and will finish on August 30.

Dozens of wrestlers from different countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Poland, Russia and the United States have taken part in the tournament.
