A huge fire has engulfed a cosmetics factory in Indonesia, killing at least five people and injuring about 50 others, police say.
According to Indonesian police, the blaze took hold following an explosion at a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics maker Mandom Corp. outside the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Friday.
Tito Karnavian, Jakarta police chief told reporters that the deadly incident happened during working hours at the plant.
Karnavian also noted that over half of the injured suffered burns to more than 70 percent of their bodies.
"A total of five people were killed in the fire, while 46 others were injured," media outlets quoted the senior police official as saying.
The exact reason for the explosion still remains unclear.
Law enforcement agencies have deployed a forensics team to investigate the cause of the blast. However, the team has been unable to enter the site due to the heat.
