'Wily' Clinton says things to gain political advantage: Analyst

Democratic US presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Democratic US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is a very wily politician who makes many statements just to gain political mileage, a US activist and commentator says.

Mark Glenn, a writer and co-founder of the Crescent and Cross Solidarity Movement, an interfaith forum dedicated to uniting Muslims and Christians against Zionists, made these remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday.

On Friday, Clinton said she was hopeful that the P5+1 group of countries would be able to reach a comprehensive agreement with Iran over its nuclear program.

“I so hope that we are able to get a deal in the next week that puts a lid on Iran’s nuclear weapons program because that’s going to be a singular step in the right direction,” Clinton said, referring to Iran’s non-existent nuke program.

Representatives from Iran and the P5+1 – the US, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany – are negotiating in Vienna to finalize a nuclear deal. The two sides extended their self-imposed end-of-June deadline for a comprehensive agreement to July 7.

Glenn said that Clinton is “very wily. You don’t know if she is A, B, C or she is X, Y, Z.”

Clinton says all types of things “to gain political advantage in any given situation.  So the question mark that hangs over her statement wanting a deal with Iran concerning Iran’s nuclear program is whether or not she really means it,” Glenn stated.

He added that we have to remember that Hillary Clinton’s statements mostly are just election ploys to win votes.

“When she was running for the office of the US president, where she said that [if some country would attack Israel], she would obliterate that nation,” the analyst revealed.

“She didn’t say attack; she didn’t say anything that was easy on ears. She said obliterate. Of course, ‘obliterate’ means to use all of the military might of the United States in the same way that was used against Iraq, and was used against Libya,” he noted.

“So we have to remember that in the case of Hillary Clinton, you are dealing with somebody who is extraordinarily dangerous in the sense that she is very comfortable with lying,” Glenn noted.

He went on to say that Clinton is very “comfortable of saying certain things” in front of one group of people and saying completely different things in front of another group of people.
